Why Disability Humour Isn’t Just Funny, It’s Freedom
There are days when you can’t tell if your life is a dark comedy or a medical drama with bad writing. Mobility aids go rogue, doctors say things that could win awards for unintentional humour, and strangers offer advice that belongs in a sitcom.
For many of us in the disability and chronic illness community, humour isn’t denial… it’s defiance. It’s how we reclaim the narrative from pity, awkwardness, and endless “inspiration” clichés.
Does Tylenol Cause Autism? (Spoiler: No, It Doesn’t)
Every few months the internet finds a new thing to blame for autism. Once upon a time it was vaccines. Then it was WiFi. Someone even said it was almond milk (seriously, what did almonds ever do to you?).
PCOS Awareness: Breaking the Stigma, Owning Our Strength
September is PCOS Awareness Month, and for me, this cause is deeply personal. I live with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) a condition that affects 1 in 10 people with ovaries worldwide.
PCOS is often misunderstood. It’s more than irregular cycles or fertility challenges. It can affect hormones, weight, skin, hair, mood, and long-term health risks like diabetes and heart disease. And yet, despite how common it is, too many people still feel isolated, ashamed, or dismissed by healthcare providers.
That’s why raising awareness matters. Talking about it matters. We can’t fight stigma with silence.
